What to Expect

I am so excited to welcome you!
The experience begins when you select one of the services below. Please continue reading for details on how to book so that your first visit is seamless and you know just what to expect for your first time joining me in the salon!​
When you arrive you will be greeted by me personally. I will give you a tour of the salon and lead you back to my private room where we will begin a thorough consultation. I will get to know your curl history and learn more about the challenges you are having. I will ask that you bring in the styling products you are currently using. This allows me to give you advice on how to properly use them. If you aren't getting the results you are looking for I will happily suggest something in my curl collection. Let's eliminate wasting money on products that aren't giving you the curls and waves you desire.
After your appointment is completed I will follow up with an email reminding you of the stying process, the exact measurements of the styling products used and how to maintain your curls daily. Knowing what to do at home is crucial. Even the most fantastic cut holds little to no value if you don't know how to maintain it on your own.

​Being a curly girl myself, I understand the frustrations that come with having curly hair. My goal is to help you with a realistic hair routine that suits your lifestyle. ​Meaning, I will not be teaching 45 minute styling routines. The methods taught on Tik Tok where they twist all the curls........ that will not be happening. I teach quick and manageable routines.
I prefer to use a dry method, cutting your hair curl by curl. It is extremely common to have tighter and looser textures within one head of hair. Cutting the hair dry ensures your shape will last longer and eliminates the worry of unwanted shrinkage, a curlfriends worst nightmare.

The New Guest Experience
As a new guest you will be receiving a hands-on learning experience. We will cover product application along with a refresh technique that will be personalized just for you. My refresh technique take less than 5 minutes and uses 1-2 styling products. My goal is for you to have an easier and more dependable routine.

I offer clean beauty services in my space. These products are eco friendly, do not contain artificial fragrances and come in environmentally friendly packaging. I run my business with everyone in mind. I offer scent-free options for anyone sensitive to fragrance. Toxin-free products for my friends living with an auto-immune disease. Coconut-free cleansers for anyone with an allergy. I try to accommodate any requests of this nature.

All of my services are age and gender neutral. You will receive the same quality service whether you are 5 or 55. Everyone is welcome at Opal Riverside. We are a positive, gender-affirming, safe space for all.

New Guest Service Options
Seeing a new stylist isn't always easy, I get that. I've taken away all of the usual stress and confusion and I've created a unique new guest booking experience for you.

Signature Dry Curly Cut
​
A dry cut designed for curly hair. Your curls are cut curl by curl, resulting in a personalized shape that lasts much longer than a traditional wet cut. This service also comes with product and styling education.
Please come with your hair dry and styled with the product you are currently using. No ponytails or clips.

Simple Color or Gloss
This option is the perfect choice if you're looking to have your grey roots covered and/or a gloss to add shine and luster to your curls.
We will begin with a thorough consultation, a color matching formulation process, a fresh color application and a blow-dry style. Add on a haircut, a deep conditioning treatment and more.
